The
Marriage Protection Pledge was introduced
on May 3, 2004 at a signing ceremony which included the Governor, Secretary of State,
a number
of State Legislators and community leaders. Since that time, over 88
elected officials have signed the pledge, including 5 US
Congressmen. The pledge offers a way for elected officials to
demonstrate their on-going support for passing the Marriage
Amendment. It also provides a way for Minnesota citizens to hold
their elected officials accountable on this important issue. The
pledge was used during the 2004 General Election to solicit candidate
positions on the issue of marriage (see press
release). At the beginning of the 2005 legislative session, we
once again invited all state legislators to sign the pledge (see letter
to the Legislators). See our Legislator
Scorecard to see whether your state legislators have signed the
pledge. |
